Dropshot fishing

This is a fairly new form of sport fishing in Norway.

Here it is mostly rods of 6 to 8 feet with an extra sensitive tip that is made for this type of fishing. The depths you fish at are from a few meters down to 30 – 40 meters. This is very effective on perch in freshwater and almost all species in saltwater.

The technique involves a special loop that locks the line in place, but it can be quickly moved without re-knotting. This is attached to the end of the line. Then you have one or two hooks that are tied 90 degrees on the line from 30 cm and up to one and a half meters above the loop. Small suitable jigs are attached to the hooks in a unique way so that they fish as effectively as possible.
